Gas prices in the U.S. are higher than ever.
Today's Triple-A stations survey finds the national average price for regular is four dollars and 37 cents a gallon. The price shot up a nickel a gallon since Monday and is 17 cents higher than last Tuesday. The statewide average is below four dollars a gallon in only six states today, down from eight yesterday.
Georgia still has the least expensive gas in the nation at three-90 a gallon, but that's up six cents since Monday. The statewide average in California is up to five-84 a gallon and it's over six dollars a gallon in almost a dozen California counties.
AAA suggests drivers use gas saving measures like slow braking and slo accelerating to help ease their pain at the pump.
