Wild Horse Gets Help For Trapped Foal

(Lakeview, OR) -- A wild horse got the attention of a Bureau of Land Management specialist last week to rescue a foal that was trapped in a muddy watering hole. In rural Eastern Oregon, Blair Street, a Wild Horse and Burro Specialist for the BLM, had a wild horse approach her truck and then run toward a ridge several times, which is odd behavior for a wild horse. Street followed the horse and found the foal exhausted in the mud. Street tied a rope around the rear of the horse and pulled it free. She stayed with the animal until it regained its strength and returned to its mother, who had been on a nearby ridge watching the whole time.
