Shain Gandee tragically died at the age of 21 from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after his vehicle got stuck in the mud, but the star of MTV’s Buckwild wasn’t left with a lot of money from the hit reality show — and now, his family is struggling to raise funds to cover his funeral expenses.
Shain’s cousin Ashley Gandee is putting together a “mud-run,” or an off-road trucking event, in the reality star’s honor to raise money to help pay for his funeral, according to TMZ.
“I know the strain they are going through. It’s hard to provide a proper burial. It’s already tough with the loss of family members,” Ashley told TMZ. “Expenses are tough as well.”
The event is scheduled to take place about 50 miles from Charleston, West Virginia where Buckwild is filmed in the town of Proctorville, Ohio, and each vehicle will be charged $10 to participate. Ashley is also taking donations for her cousin’s funeral, TMZ is reporting.
Although the MTV series had previously been green-lighted for a second season — MTV has since halted production of season two after Shain’s death — it is unclear how much the cast earned from the first season of the show. (Hollywood Life)
